This special organic, aged Chinese pu-erh tea is rich and robust with a smoky, sweet flavor. Like wine - and unlike any other tea – pu-erh improves with age, and some of the pu-erh bricks most precious to connoisseurs may have aged for 30 years or more.

Pu-erh (pronounced “poor” and also referred to as “dark tea”) is named after the ancient market town in China where it was first traded - ages ago, when this tea was pressed into bricks and transported by horseback along the tea trade roads (and paths) in humid climates. It would ferment by the time it reached market and soon people came to love the taste of the fermented tea.

This is a Give Back tea – 10% of the proceeds from each purchase go to the Center in Asbury Park, where Father Bob is the founder and Executive Director. The Center serves HIV-positive patients and their families. In addition, Center House provides permanent, supportive housing for 25 previously homeless people living with HIV/AIDS.
